For my final 3D Modeling project, I applied the semester's techniques and elements to design a minimalist living space.
I drew inspiration from minimalist design principles, characterized by clean lines, simple forms, and a focus on functionality. This reference photo exemplifies a minimalist approach with a simple wooden table and chairs. The subsequent images highlight additional minimalist spaces and objects that informed my design process.
By presenting my work in progress during midterms, I was able to benefit from valuable feedback from both peers and instructors, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
Work In Progress 1: In this image, I'm aiming to create a visually pleasing and functional space. To achieve this, I'm strategically arranging my various objects. I'm experimenting with different layouts, playing with light and shadow, and fine-tuning the details. The goal is to transform the space into a place that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical.
Work In Progress 2: I'm carefully adjusting the lighting parameters in Arnold, the renderer I am using in Maya, and experimenting with different settings to achieve the desired mood. I'm paying close attention to the interplay of light and shadow, the intensity of the light sources, and the overall color temperature. Each tweak brings the scene closer to the envisioned look.
Work In Progress 3: To establish a clear sense of scale in my scene, I incorporated a humanoid object. By using this familiar reference point, I could accurately adjust the size of other objects, ensuring that they appear proportionate to one another. This careful attention to scale significantly enhances the overall realism and believability of the scene.
A critical aspect of this project was the rendering of the final design. The following images highlight the visual impact of my design, as achieved through rendering techniques
